Auburn'sfuture looks promising with its committed pitching staff. Earlier our staff watched Huntsville High School's Daniel Koger shine and last night it was Grissom High's Dillon Ortman. Koger is a 2011 verbal commitments to Auburn University and Ortman is a 2010. Ortman showed polish last night working five innings in 35 degree weather as he located his 86-88 mph fastball well and commanded a nasty 76-80 mph slider that kept his opponents off balance all night. His 6-2/175 frame has room to add muscle and his arm is lively and projects well. He is advanced in his mechanics at this point with clean fluid actions and shows composure on the bump.
